Lightspeed Names Adil Haque As Head Of Capital Partnerships

Lightspeed added Adil Haque as Partner and Head of Capital Partnerships, strengthening the venture firm’s relationships with institutional investors and other capital partners. Haque joined Lightspeed after a career spanning venture investing and institutional capital relationships.

In his new role, he will lead the firm’s capital partnerships organization.

His responsibilities include developing deeper relationships with existing and prospective clients, sharing insights across Lightspeed’s investments, sectors, and geographic markets, and partnering with investors on funds, co-investments, and bespoke venture solutions.

Haque’s relationships span institutions that manage capital for teachers, firefighters, police officers, public and corporate employees, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, and families.

He first became familiar with Lightspeed in the early 2000s while working as a venture investor at Apax.

More than two decades later, discussions with Lightspeed partner Bejul Somaia led to broader engagement with Ravi Mhatre, Rob Horton, and other members of the firm’s investment team.

Haque said he was drawn to Lightspeed’s focus on backing ambitious founders capable of generating power-law returns and its systems-oriented approach to venture investing.

KEY QUOTES:

“We think about things similarly: back the most ambitious founders to deliver power-law returns and operate with systems-led thinking.”

“I’m leading capital partnerships – building deeper relationships with clients and partners, sharing what were seeing across the firm, deals, sectors and geographies, and partnering on funds, co-investments and bespoke venture solutions.”
