Lightworks, a Canadian enterprise AI consultancy, has secured up to $12 million in financing to support the launch of its flagship AI services and accelerate its expansion among the world’s largest and most highly regulated enterprises.

The round was led by Round13 Capital, with the funding aimed at helping Lightworks address what investors describe as one of the defining technology challenges of the decade: safely scaling AI in complex, compliance-heavy environments.

Lightworks plans to deepen its focus on highly regulated sectors, forging new partnerships and advancing a services model designed to manage the deployment of AI agents at scale. The company said the capital will enable it to extend its work in establishing governance, security, and operational frameworks that allow enterprises to transition AI initiatives from pilot programs to full-scale production.

The firm’s approach centers on creating enterprise AI control systems and infrastructure that help organizations orchestrate, govern, and secure AI-driven systems. By aligning deployments with compliance and security frameworks, Lightworks aims to set industry standards for responsible AI adoption across regulated domains.

The company’s team brings decades of experience advising major institutions on secure and compliant technology adoption. Lightworks has delivered large-scale transformation programs across North America, Australia, and Asia.

Founded in 2013 and based in Toronto, Round13 Capital invests in high-potential companies across multiple sectors, with a focus on long-term growth and development. The firm said its prior collaborations with Lightworks’ leadership contributed to its confidence in the company’s ability to execute in highly complex enterprise environments.

The financing positions Lightworks to expand its AI services footprint as global enterprises seek to deploy AI agents at scale while maintaining strict oversight, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
