LinkedIn: Matt Derella Expands Leadership Across LinkedIn Ads And Microsoft Advertising

LinkedIn announced that Matt Derella is expanding his leadership responsibilities across LinkedIn Ads and Microsoft Advertising, a move that further aligns the advertising businesses of both companies while maintaining their distinct operations.

Derella, who joined LinkedIn in late 2024 to lead global sales for the company’s advertising business, will now oversee LinkedIn Ads while also managing the go-to-market strategy for Microsoft Advertising. The expanded role comes as longtime Microsoft advertising executive Kya Sainsbury-Carter departs the company after roughly two decades at Microsoft.

The leadership expansion reflects Microsoft and LinkedIn’s growing focus on AI-driven advertising products, enterprise marketing solutions, and integrated business advertising capabilities. Under the updated structure, LinkedIn and Microsoft Advertising will continue operating as separate organizations while coordinating more closely on go-to-market initiatives and advertiser engagement.

Before joining LinkedIn, Derella spent years in digital media and advertising leadership roles, including senior positions at Twitter/X. At LinkedIn, he has emphasized AI-powered marketing tools, B2B creator ecosystems, and professional audience engagement as major growth areas for advertisers.

The executive change also arrives during a broader period of restructuring across Microsoft and LinkedIn leadership teams. Earlier this month, Microsoft expanded the responsibilities of LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky as part of a larger organizational reshuffle tied to Microsoft’s AI and productivity initiatives.
