Linklaters is continuing to expand its U.S. litigation and sports practices by adding César Rivière as a partner in New York, alongside Counsel Grant May and Associate Cara Day. All three lawyers join from Paul Weiss.
Their arrival follows the July addition of H. Christopher Boehning and Daniel H. Levi and represents another step in Linklaters’ effort to build a larger U.S. disputes and sports platform.
The investment comes as Linklaters continues expanding aggressively in the U.S.
The firm said its U.S. partnership has grown by more than 75% since fiscal 2021 through the recruitment of teams across M&A, disputes, and finance.
Linklaters also recently reported record fiscal 2026 results, with U.S. revenue more than doubling and U.S. profit quadrupling over the past four years.
Rivière advises clients on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration.
His practice focuses on post-M&A and international business disputes.
He also brings sector experience spanning sports, insurance, luxury goods, telecommunications, and reinsurance.
May and Day add further experience handling commercial disputes, investigations, and international arbitration matters.
Linklaters expects the addition to deepen its New York litigation practice and strengthen its ability to handle matters with both U.S. and international components.
The hires also support the firm’s growing sports practice.
Boehning serves as Chair of Linklaters’ Global Sports Practice and U.S. Strategic Disputes, giving the reunited team a platform spanning traditional commercial litigation and disputes arising across the sports industry.
The latest additions build on several other significant investments in Linklaters’ U.S. disputes business.
Over the past two years, the firm added a trial team led by Adeel Mangi along with partners Muhammad Faridi, Diana Conner, and George LoBiondo.
Linklaters also recruited an international arbitration team led by Joe Profaizer, Co-Head of International Arbitration.
The firm’s U.S. Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice handles complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, regulatory and internal investigations, antitrust, securities matters, business crime, class and derivative actions, fraud, bankruptcy litigation, and lender liability disputes.
The U.S. group operates as part of a broader global litigation platform comprising approximately 400 lawyers.
Linklaters sees that international reach as particularly important for major disputes requiring coordinated strategies across jurisdictions.
