Linklaters has hired Mark Gordon from Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz as Managing Partner of the Americas and Co-Chair of Global M&A, marking another major senior appointment as the law firm accelerates its expansion in the U.S.
Gordon will join Linklaters in New York in November and brings more than 30 years of experience advising on large and strategically significant transactions.
He will succeed Tom McGrath as Managing Partner of the Americas at the conclusion of McGrath’s term and will work with Linklaters’ senior leadership to continue expanding the firm’s U.S. business.
Since fiscal 2022, Linklaters has increased the size of its U.S. partnership by more than 75%, more than doubled U.S. revenue and quadrupled U.S. profits.
Gordon advises companies and boards across complex cross-border M&A, shareholder activism and takeover defense, with sector experience spanning healthcare, technology, mining, industrials and energy.
His notable representations include The AZEK Company in its $8.75 billion acquisition by James Hardie Industries, Alexion Pharmaceuticals in its $39 billion sale to AstraZeneca, and Analog Devices in its $21 billion acquisition of Maxim Integrated Products and $14.8 billion acquisition of Linear Technology.
The appointment follows several other senior U.S. additions at Linklaters, including a strategic litigation and sports team led by Chris Boehning, Dan Levi and César Rivière from Paul Weiss, along with former Johnson & Johnson global litigation head Erik Haas.
Linklaters’ global M&A practice includes more than 650 lawyers, and the firm is building its U.S. transactional capabilities around domestic and cross-border mandates.
