Lionsgate Studios announced it has appointed former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin to its Board of Directors, effective immediately, adding a high-profile finance and regulatory veteran with deep ties to capital markets and prior entertainment investing experience.
The company framed Mnuchin’s appointment as a governance and capital markets upgrade as Lionsgate continues to operate as a standalone, pure-play content studio spanning film and television production and distribution, 3 Arts Entertainment, and a film and TV library of more than 20,000 titles. Lionsgate also emphasized that Mnuchin and his fund are significant investors in the company, positioning his board role as aligned with shareholder interests.
Mnuchin served as the 77th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and previously built a career in global finance, including as a partner and chief information officer at Goldman Sachs. He later founded and led Dune Capital Management, which focused on entertainment investments, and he is credited with co-financing the film Avatar and earning more than 35 executive producer credits. He currently leads Liberty Strategic Capital, a private equity firm focused on technology, financial services, fintech, and new forms of content, and chairs its investment committee.
