LocalStack Acquires WonderTwin AI To Expand Local Development For AI Agents And Third-Party Integrations

LocalStack has acquired WonderTwin AI, expanding its local cloud development platform with application emulators designed to help software developers and AI agents build and test third-party integrations without connecting to live application programming interfaces. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

WonderTwin AI develops local emulators for applications including GitHub, HubSpot, PostHog and Stripe, allowing engineering teams to simulate third-party services inside local development environments.

The acquisition extends LocalStack’s existing cloud infrastructure emulation capabilities beyond platforms such as AWS and Snowflake into the external software services that modern applications frequently depend on.

The combination is intended to create a broader local development environment where developers and AI agents can test both cloud infrastructure and third-party application integrations within isolated environments.

That approach is becoming increasingly relevant as AI-assisted and agentic software development increases the number of workflows that need to run concurrently.

Traditional integration development often requires engineers to test code against live third-party applications or shared sandbox environments.

Those environments can create bottlenecks when multiple developers or AI agents need to test integrations at the same time.

They can also introduce security, compliance, performance and cost concerns when development workflows depend on production-oriented external services.
