Lockheed Martin announced it has been awarded a 10-year, sole-source, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract by the U.S. Department of Defense, valued at up to $1.9 billion, to continue the C-130J Maintenance and Aircrew Training System program.
The contract, known as the C-130J MATS IV program, enables the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center to provide a comprehensive suite of training devices and support services for C-130J aircrews and maintainers. These services include courseware development, training operations, contractor logistics support, and engineering services.
The program plays a critical role in maintaining operational readiness across multiple branches of the U.S. military, including Air Mobility Command, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force Special Operations Command, and Air Education and Training Command. Under the new contract, support will also expand to include the U.S. Navy Reserve and U.S. Coast Guard.
The C-130J Super Hercules, a widely used tactical airlift aircraft, is operated by 28 nations globally, with more than 560 aircraft delivered and the fleet surpassing 3 million flight hours. The continued investment in training and maintenance infrastructure underscores the platform’s importance to global military operations and logistics.
The award reinforces Lockheed Martin’s longstanding relationship with the U.S. government and its role in delivering mission-critical training and support capabilities for modern defense operations.
