LPL Financial has welcomed financial advisor Alan Feutz, CFP, to its broker-dealer and Registered Investment Advisor platforms through Genesis Wealth, an LPL-aligned wealth management firm. Feutz reported serving approximately $725 million in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets. He joins Genesis Wealth and LPL from J.P. Morgan.
Based in Deerfield, Illinois, outside Chicago, Feutz brings more than two decades of financial services experience. He primarily advises individuals and families who are approaching retirement or already navigating their retirement years.
His practice provides comprehensive wealth management services spanning retirement planning, tax-aware investment strategies, estate and legacy planning, portfolio management and multigenerational wealth conversations.
Feutz entered the financial services industry shortly after college, having developed an early interest in investing and financial markets. He has since built a practice centered on personalized advice, long-term client relationships and planning tailored to each household’s circumstances.
His approach begins with understanding a client’s complete financial picture, personal priorities, risk tolerance and preferred style of working with an advisor. He then uses that information to develop financial and investment strategies aligned with the client’s goals.
Feutz also collaborates with other professionals serving his clients, including accountants, attorneys and estate-planning specialists. This coordination can help ensure that investment, tax and legacy strategies support one another rather than being developed independently.
Retirement planning is a major focus of the practice. Clients approaching retirement often need to determine how much income their assets can sustainably generate, when to begin taking Social Security benefits and how to balance growth, income and capital preservation.
They may also need guidance on healthcare costs, required minimum distributions, charitable giving and the tax consequences of withdrawing money from different types of accounts.
For clients already in retirement, Feutz helps evaluate whether their portfolios and income strategies remain aligned with changing spending needs, market conditions and family priorities.
His tax-aware approach considers how investment decisions may affect a client’s broader financial plan. Strategies may involve managing capital gains, coordinating distributions across taxable and retirement accounts and evaluating the timing of financial decisions.
Legacy planning is another important part of his work. Feutz helps clients consider how wealth should be transferred to children, grandchildren, charities or other beneficiaries while maintaining sufficient resources for their own needs.
These conversations can extend beyond the technical structure of an estate plan. Families may need to decide how and when to introduce younger generations to financial responsibilities, communicate intentions and prepare heirs to manage inherited wealth.
Feutz said his service model is based on treating clients like family. He seeks to earn trust through consistent communication, individualized guidance and a detailed understanding of the factors influencing each client’s financial life.
He joined Genesis Wealth to gain greater flexibility in serving a concentrated group of households while retaining access to the infrastructure and resources of an established wealth management organization.
The move will allow him to customize the client experience more extensively and devote additional time to financial planning and relationship management.
Feutz was also attracted to LPL’s scale, operational capabilities and history in the advisor-mediated wealth management market.
Coming from a bank-based advisory environment, he considered the security and custody of client assets to be important factors when evaluating his next platform.
LPL provides brokerage and advisory infrastructure, investment solutions, financial technology, compliance support and practice management resources to independent advisors and financial institutions.
Through Genesis Wealth, Feutz will combine those capabilities with the support and collaborative environment of an established advisory firm.
Genesis Wealth founder and managing partner Kosta Tanglis said Feutz’s emphasis on relationships, thoughtful planning and personalized service aligns with the firm’s approach.
The affiliation gives Feutz the ability to operate with greater independence while drawing on Genesis Wealth’s existing resources, personnel and operating structure.
This model can help advisors avoid building every business function independently while still giving them flexibility over how they serve clients and manage their practices.
Feutz’s addition also expands Genesis Wealth’s presence in the Chicago area and strengthens its capabilities in retirement, legacy and multigenerational planning.
LPL Chief Growth Officer Marc Cohen said Feutz has built an established practice by helping families navigate significant financial decisions.
LPL expects its platform and Genesis Wealth’s resources to give Feutz additional flexibility and support as he continues serving existing clients and pursuing future growth.
LPL supports more than 32,000 financial advisors and the wealth management businesses of approximately 1,100 financial institutions. The company services and custodies approximately $2.3 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets on behalf of roughly eight million Americans.
Its affiliation models are designed to accommodate advisors seeking different levels of independence, support and ownership over their businesses.
By joining Genesis Wealth and LPL, Feutz gains access to a broader technology and operational platform while maintaining the high-touch planning approach that has defined his practice.
