Lucid Diagnostics secured its first laboratory benefit manager coverage policy for EsoGuard during Q2 2026, giving the esophageal precancer diagnostic a pathway to coverage across multiple commercial health plans as the company continues to await a potential Medicare coverage decision.
Concert, a healthcare technology company recently acquired by Lyric, issues the policy and develops laboratory testing policies that its health-plan clients can adopt.
Concert’s policy recognizes EsoGuard as medically necessary for patients who meet established screening criteria. Lucid said multiple Concert client health plans have already adopted the policy, giving the development potential significance beyond a single insurance plan.
Lucid continues pursuing broader payer adoption while awaiting what management hopes will be a positive draft Medicare coverage policy for EsoGuard. The company has also accelerated engagement with the Department of Veterans Affairs and major health systems.
EsoGuard is a DNA test designed to identify esophageal precancer in at-risk patients, with samples collected using Lucid’s EsoCheck Esophageal Cell Collection Device during a brief noninvasive office procedure.
The company processed 2,770 EsoGuard tests during Q2 and recognized $1.5 million of EsoGuard-related revenue.
Lucid is also building an economic case for broader payer adoption. The company developed a health-economic cost-effectiveness model for EsoGuard screening, with preliminary results indicating improved clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness.
The model is intended to support discussions with commercial payers and help inform coverage decisions, adding an economic argument to the clinical rationale for screening patients considered at risk for esophageal precancer.
Commercial progress is occurring while Lucid continues operating at a significant loss. Q2 operating expenses were approximately $14.3 million, including $1.7 million of stock-based compensation.
GAAP net loss attributable to common stockholders was approximately $14.7 million, including a $3 million deemed preferred-stock dividend. Non-GAAP adjusted loss was approximately $10.9 million.
Lucid ended June with $33.4 million of cash and cash equivalents compared with $34.7 million at the end of 2025.
The Concert policy represents an important commercialization milestone because laboratory benefit managers can influence coverage across multiple health-plan customers. Combined with potential Medicare coverage and continued VA and health-system engagement, Lucid is attempting to expand EsoGuard from individual testing relationships into broader institutional reimbursement channels.
