Lucid Software is a workplace acceleration company that provides a cloud-based visual collaboration platform for diagramming, whiteboarding, and process mapping. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Lucid VP of Strategy & Operations Jamie Lyon, Sr., to gain a deeper understanding of the company.
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Lyon said:
“At Lucid Software, we’ve built a comprehensive Visual Collaboration Suite centered on two flagship products that help teams work better together: Lucidchart and Lucidspark.”
“Lucidchart, our intelligent diagramming application, empowers users to create flowcharts, org charts, technical diagrams, and system visualizations while fostering real-time collaboration. Building upon this foundation, we launched Lucidspark in 2020, a virtual whiteboard purpose-built for brainstorming, ideation and strategic planning. Designed to support more freeform thinking, Lucidspark offers templates, breakout boards, timers, and voting features to help teams align quickly and make smarter decisions together.”
“In April, we acquired airfocus to expand support for product teams by helping organizations structure product work, align teams, and provide leaders with greater visibility into strategic initiatives. airfocus features built-in AI capabilities, ready-to-use templates, and roadmapping capabilities, designed to help teams prioritize and build products faster.”
“As part of this expansion, we released three new accelerators designed to help organizations streamline work, achieve alignment, and drive business transformation at a greater capacity.”
“The accelerators focus on three key areas: agile transformation, cloud optimization, and process improvement. This approach ensures that organizations not only achieve alignment and clarity but also execute with greater precision and efficiency.”
“By combining visual collaboration with purpose-built accelerators, Lucid doesn’t just help teams visualize successful work, but also shows them how to get there.”
“With 120+ integrations with software like Jira, Slack and Google Workspace these products power teams to visualize and accelerate their work. What unifies our product offerings is the belief that everyone deserves to do great work every day—whether they’re engineers designing system architecture, executives planning initiatives, or product teams mapping customer journeys. We’ve embedded intelligence into the collaboration process to help teams move with speed and clarity.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Lyon noted:
“While our evolution has been transformative, the core of our vision has remained focused on empowering teams to see and build the future faster through visual collaboration. This commitment has anchored every step of our journey and that focus on our vision has led customers to save over $758K in operating expenses, and 146K hours of follow-up meetings avoided.”
“At launch, Lucid was created to fill the critical gap in cloud-based solutions on the market. A key component of our success has been anticipating customer needs before they even arise. For example, we’ve been integrating intelligence throughout the product journey.. This subtle introduction to AI helped our customers get acclimated to the technology, helping them to do their best work.”
“Over several years, we methodically released multiple AI-powered features, such as AI prompts in Lucidchart and a ChatGPT plugin, building toward the comprehensive AI incorporation we unveiled within the last year. This measured approach allowed us to demonstrate AI’s value while ensuring customers never felt they were simply handing their work and outcomes over to algorithms.”
“Flash forward to today, we’re infusing different types of AI across our platform to make collaboration more intelligent, efficient, and actionable. For example, teams can use generative AI in Lucidchart to describe what diagram or flowchart they want to visualize, and AI will generate that instantly within the platform, making it easier to navigate and act on critical information.”
“Another example is agentic AI, which can further enhance productivity by automating repeatable workflows and assisting with decision-making. These features free up teams to lean into what humans do best: collaborate, think critically, and make strategic decisions.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Lyon cited:
“2025 has been super exciting for Lucid so far – a true inflection point in our company history.”
“A decade ago, visual collaboration was relatively unexplored in enterprise environments. The majority of teams relied on static documents, emails, and siloed tools. Today, visual collaboration has become one of the most critical functions within organizations, accelerating teams to quicker consensus. In fact, our Agile Advantage survey found that when asked what would help achieve consensus faster, 45% of respondents mentioned collaboration tools.”
“Our recent acquisition of airfocus marks our first ever acquisition and represents a way that we’ve been able to extend our ability to help teams with idea generation, refinement, and execution. Organizations can now swiftly move from ideation to execution without leaving the Lucid platform. This milestone aligns perfectly with our growth to $300M in ARR and our expanding user community of over 100 million people worldwide.”
“Our standing at #12 globally in Okta’s Business at Work 2025 report and recognition as the most used visual collaboration platform among Fortune 500 companies validates our enterprise strategy.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Lyon affirmed:
“For more than a decade, we’ve solidified our position as the leading visual collaboration platform on the market.”
“The Lucid Suite is designed for real-time collaboration, enabling teams to brainstorm, plan, and execute all in one place while also meeting workers where they already work by seamlessly integrating with the top tools in their tech stack. Fast Company has recognized Lucid as one of the most innovative companies for enhancing collaboration across in-person and remote teams.”
“At our core, we take our customers’ success incredibly seriously. This commitment drives everything we do, from product development to implementation support. We understand that when our customers succeed, we succeed, which is why we’ve built a platform that is unlike any other and supports their journey from idea to execution.”
Additional Thoughts
Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Lyon concluded:
“One area I’m especially passionate about is how we’re doubling down on our vision for Lucid as a Work Acceleration Platform. We’re focused on enabling enterprise teams to move faster and make better decisions by streamlining alignment, planning, and execution—all within a unified visual environment. As we accelerate our work with AI, we need visualization more than ever to help us understand what’s going on in order to best optimize and leverage AI effectively.”
“This shift reflects the growing need for solutions that do more than just facilitate collaboration but drive real business results. The workplace is rapidly changing, creating unprecedented alignment challenges for businesses everywhere. Our Acceleration Equation survey found that 44% of employees cite team misalignment as a project challenge, highlighting how systems intended to improve efficiency often create confusion instead.”
“As leaders and organizations prioritize consistent processes, shared visibility, and reliable data and information access, clarity and alignment will power a new level of accelerated work.”
