Luma AI: $900 Million Series C Raised As HUMAIN Partners On 2-Gigawatt Saudi Supercluster

By Amit Chowdhry ● Nov 20, 2025

Luma AI announced a significant expansion of its multimodal artificial intelligence ambitions with the closing of a $900 million Series C funding round, led by HUMAIN, the Public Investment Fund-backed company focused on full-stack global AI infrastructure. The round included participation from AMD Ventures and existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Amplify Partners, and Matrix Partners.

The new capital marks a pivotal advance toward Luma AI’s goal of accelerating the development of multimodal artificial general intelligence capable of generating, understanding, and operating in the physical world. As part of the initiative, Luma AI will become a customer of HUMAIN, which is building Project Halo, a 2-gigawatt AI supercluster in Saudi Arabia. The facility is positioned to become one of the world’s largest compute infrastructure deployments and is designed to train and scale next-generation World Models, a category of AI systems expected to extend well beyond the limits of current large language models.

The announcement was made in Washington, D.C., at the U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum during the visit of Crown Prince HRH Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud. Luma AI and HUMAIN unveiled a joint roadmap to accelerate the development of multimodal intelligence and large-scale simulation technologies. These systems will power products within HUMAIN Create, an initiative designed to build culturally aligned and sovereign AI models for the Middle East and North Africa region using regional and Arabic-language datasets.

The new training infrastructure will support Luma AI’s efforts to build World Models trained on multimodal datasets, including vast amounts of video, audio, imagery, and language data reflective of humanity’s digital record. The company aims to develop systems capable of learning from quadrillion-token-scale inputs, enabling AI tools that can perform real-world tasks across robotics, entertainment, marketing, gaming, and personalized education.

Luma AI’s existing technology, including its Ray3 reasoning-based video model, has already seen broad commercial adoption across studios, advertising agencies, and major technology platforms. Ray3 is deployed within Adobe products and has contributed to the company’s rapid growth across creative industries. With the new funding, Luma AI plans to expand further into simulation, design, and robotics technologies.

Luma AI was also the first company to launch models within HUMAIN Create, offering enterprise and government customers in the region AI systems trained to understand cultural context, visual nuance, and linguistic diversity. These models are intended to help organizations adopt AI systems that align with local identity, values, and strategic priorities.

Luma AI continues to scale its multimodal intelligence platform, Dream Machine, and remains supported by investors including HUMAIN, Andreessen Horowitz, Amazon, AMD Ventures, NVIDIA, Amplify Partners, Matrix Partners, and technology and entertainment industry angels.

HUMAIN is expanding its global AI footprint through next-generation data centers, hyper-performance infrastructure, cloud platforms, and advanced AI models, including the most sophisticated Arabic LLMs developed in the Arab world. The company aims to establish a vertically integrated AI value chain spanning capital, compute, and real-world deployment capabilities.

KEY QUOTES

“HUMAIN is the perfect partner for this next stage in Luma AI’s explosive trajectory. To create AI that can help humanity in the physical world and expand our understanding of the universe, we need to build systems that can learn from a quadrillion tokens of information – roughly the collective digital memory of humanity – contained in video, image, audio, and language. HUMAIN is deploying frontier compute infrastructure at impressive speed, and this is critical to achieving Luma AI’s mission. We are also partnering deeply across customized models, go-to-market, and deployment of frontier capabilities to build a full end-to-end value-chain for multimodal AI.”

“It is only through this level of systems and algorithmic integration that it is possible to build models that can understand and simulate the universe.”

Amit Jain, CEO and Co-Founder, Luma AI

“This investment underscores an important point in HUMAIN’s philosophy: we are not only funding the next wave of AI, we’re building the full value chain that makes it possible. Luma AI is an exceptional U.S.-based global frontier startup pushing the boundaries of multimodal world models. Their technical ambition, research velocity, and proven ability to turn foundational breakthroughs into real products make them uniquely aligned with HUMAIN’s vision. Our investment in Luma AI, combined with HUMAIN’s 2GW supercluster, positions us to train, deploy, and scale multimodal intelligence at a frontier level. This partnership sets a new benchmark for how capital, compute, and capability come together.”
