Lumin Digital appointed Mike Valentine, the outgoing chief executive officer of BCU, to its board of directors, effective October 1, 2026.
Valentine joins the board as an independent director designated as an industry executive and expert.
He brings more than 40 years of experience serving and leading credit unions, along with the perspective of a longtime Lumin Digital client.
Valentine has led BCU since 1994.
During his tenure, BCU expanded into a nationally recognized financial institution serving hundreds of thousands of members and working with major employers and professional associations.
The credit union also expanded its national footprint and invested in digital capabilities aimed at improving the member experience.
Valentine is expected to retire from BCU in 2027.
Lumin Digital said his appointment adds further financial institution operating experience to its board as the company continues expanding its platform beyond digital banking.
The company is focused on broadening the role its technology plays for banks and credit unions through its cloud-native and AI-enabled platform.
BCU currently has more than $6.5 billion in assets and approximately 370,000 members.
The credit union offers checking and savings products, loans, credit cards, and digital financial tools.
Lumin Digital provides technology to banks and credit unions through what it describes as its Compounding Growth Platform.
The company said Valentine’s combination of executive leadership, industry knowledge, and firsthand experience as a Lumin client will help inform its strategy as it continues developing products for financial institutions.
