Lummus Technology has acquired intellectual property assets and experienced personnel from Shell Catalysts & Technologies’ Environmental Catalysts and Systems business to expand its environmental solutions platform.

The acquired assets add an established global customer base, long-standing service relationships, and emissions-reduction technologies to Lummus’ portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Shell’s ECS business specializes in industrial air pollution and emissions-control technologies. Its offerings include DeNOx systems designed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions while helping industrial customers meet environmental standards without compromising operational performance.

Lummus said certain ECS technologies can achieve pollutant reduction rates exceeding 98% to 99% in particular applications.

The transaction also gives Lummus an opportunity to combine the acquired emissions-control technologies with its existing process technology capabilities across refining, petrochemicals, and waste processing.

Shell Catalysts & Technologies will continue supporting ECS customers during a transition period to help maintain continuity of supply and service.

KEY QUOTES:

“This acquisition immediately strengthens Lummus’ emissions-control and environmental solutions while deepening our cross-industry relationships. The current ECS customer base enhances our ability to support customers across the full lifecycle of their assets.”

Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technology

“This divestment reflects our commitment to ensuring that this important environmental solution is positioned for continued growth. We have successfully built and supported the ECS business for many years, helping customers meet tighter emissions requirements.”
