Lunos AI: $5 Million Pre-Seed Closed To Automate Accounts Receivable For B2B Finance Teams

Lunos AI, a fintech startup focused on transforming how businesses manage accounts receivable, has launched with a $5 million pre-seed funding round. The round was co-led by General Catalyst and Cherry Ventures, with additional backing from a select group of angel investors, including current and former CFOs and executives from Eli Lilly, Trustly, Deliveroo, Typeform, and GoCardless.

The company is addressing one of the most persistent inefficiencies in the global economy: the way B2B payments are handled. While consumer transactions are typically instant and seamless, an estimated $100 trillion in business-to-business trade is still settled after goods and services are delivered.

Despite decades of progress in software and payment systems, the process remains heavily manual, relying on finance teams to chase invoices through emails and PDFs.

Lunos AI offers a new approach by introducing AI agents that replicate the traditional accounts receivable workflow. These agents can be accessed through Slack, email, and a dedicated web application. They connect to platforms like QuickBooks and NetSuite, analyze customer interactions, and manage two-way conversations about balances and invoices. The goal is to reduce the administrative burden on finance teams while improving payment outcomes.

Now available to businesses of all sizes, Lunos AI offers both white-glove service and a self-serve platform. With the new funding, the company plans to expand its team and enhance its AI agents with features like reconciliation, payment orchestration, and full cash flow optimization. It also aims to develop embeddable agents for accounting, invoicing, and CRM platforms, allowing financial software providers to integrate Lunos directly into their products.

By automating one of the most labor-intensive aspects of business finance, Lunos AI is positioning itself as a foundational tool for modern enterprises seeking to streamline operations and improve payment efficiency.

KEY QUOTES:

“This isn’t a payments problem… it’s a communication and negotiation problem. Finance teams still spend countless hours chasing people over email, answering questions, updating spreadsheets, finding new contacts, and reconciling payments with incomplete information. This human approach is required because every customer and invoice is different – but it isn’t scalable, and it can’t be optimized the way a consumer checkout flow can.”

“Business payments shouldn’t feel like the Wild West. Our vision is to provide AI workers that power agent-to-agent B2B commerce. This creates a network of AI agents that communicate amongst each other on behalf of businesses to ensure faster and more efficient payments. Cash flow is often the primary reason businesses fail and by having trained AI agents to handle this for them, and ensure they get paid faster, this traditional barrier becomes easier to overcome.”

“From day one, we wanted our worker to be accessible. Businesses shouldn’t need a six-month integration process just to modernize receivables. With Lunos, you can sign up, start running, and see value right away.”

Duncan Barrigan, Founder and CEO of Lunos AI and former Chief Product Officer of European payments unicorn GoCardless

“When I worked in finance, I could only dream of a coworker that automated receivables, chased invoices, and managed the admin. With Lunos, that’s now a reality. We’re excited by Duncan and the team’s ambitious vision to redefine receivables and payments for B2B commerce, leveraging AI in a way that’s both practical and transformative.”
