Lyft: Active Riders Reach Record 30.5 Million As Quarterly Rides Hit 262 Million

Lyft reached record levels of both active riders and rides during the second quarter of 2026 as the company expands its transportation platform through rideshare, taxi and autonomous vehicle partnerships.

Active riders increased 17% year-over-year to a record 30.5 million, marking Lyft’s seventh consecutive quarter of double-digit rider growth. Quarterly rides increased 12% to a record 262.4 million from 234.8 million a year earlier.

The company’s growth was broad-based across Freenow by Lyft in Europe, North American rideshare and Lyft Urban Solutions. Lyft is increasingly using partnerships to broaden the transportation options available through its platform.

Approximately 30% of North American rideshare rides during Q2 were connected to a partnership, an all-time high for the company. That model includes collaborations with autonomous vehicle companies and existing licensed transportation operators.

In Nashville, Lyft and Waymo officially began fleet operations in June. The companies are preparing for the planned October opening of an 80,000-square-foot purpose-built autonomous vehicle depot. Lyft also expanded its strategic partnership with Curb into New York City, the largest taxi market in the U.S.

The operating momentum translated into stronger financial results. Gross bookings increased 23% to $5.5 billion, while revenue increased 16% to $1.84 billion. Net income increased 25% to $50.3 million from $40.3 million.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 37% to $177.2 million, and its margin as a percentage of gross bookings improved to 3.2% from 2.9%. Lyft generated $319.6 million of quarterly free cash flow and $1.1 billion over the trailing 12 months.

For the third quarter, Lyft expects gross bookings of approximately $5.50 billion to $5.67 billion, representing year-over-year growth of about 15% to 19%. Adjusted EBITDA is projected between $183 million and $203 million.
