A.P. Moller – Maersk is investing $100 million in a new fulfillment hub in Hopedale, Massachusetts, expanding its logistics capacity across the northeastern United States. The 617,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin operations in late August 2026.
Maersk said the project will create approximately 1,000 jobs across leadership, operations and support functions.
Hiring is already underway.
The Hopedale site will serve a major e-commerce customer and support high-volume fulfillment and delivery throughout the Northeast.
At peak capacity, the facility is expected to process as many as 330,000 units per day.
The operation will include advanced conveyor and sortation technology designed to move products through the facility quickly and accurately.
The systems will help Maersk manage large order volumes while maintaining service levels during seasonal peaks and other periods of elevated demand.
The investment represents a significant addition to Maersk’s North American Contract Logistics network.
Contract logistics services can include warehousing, inventory management, order fulfillment, packaging and distribution on behalf of customers.
The new facility is intended to help customers position inventory closer to consumers, reducing the distance products must travel during the final stages of delivery.
Locating inventory near major population centers can support faster delivery times and lower transportation complexity.
The Boston metropolitan area and broader Northeast corridor contain a large concentration of consumers, businesses and transportation infrastructure.
The Hopedale facility gives Maersk additional capacity to serve customers across Massachusetts and neighboring states.
The site will support a single large-scale e-commerce customer at launch.
The dedicated model allows the facility’s technology, processes and staffing to be configured around that customer’s order volumes and fulfillment requirements.

Maersk is also working toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its business by 2040 through new technologies, vessels and lower-emission fuels.
