Maia Fertility Raises Strategic Investment From Mercantile Life Science Ventures And Big Idea Ventures

Maia Fertility has received a joint strategic investment from Mercantile Life Science Ventures IV and Big Idea Ventures’ Generation Food Rural Partners fund.

Maia Fertility is developing Ferizyme, a proprietary sustained-release enzyme platform intended to address fertility challenges in mammals.

The financing will support expanded clinical studies across commercial cattle operations in North America and Europe. The company plans to use the results to further validate Ferizyme and establish a scientific foundation for potential future applications in human reproductive health.

The investors said the partnership combines Mercantile’s healthcare and life sciences expertise with Big Idea Ventures’ agriculture-focused commercialization capabilities.

The program will focus on completing efficacy studies at commercial farms, refining the sustained-release delivery system, and preparing the technology for broader livestock industry adoption.

Maia Fertility views cattle as the immediate commercial market for Ferizyme while pursuing a longer-term pathway into human reproductive medicine.

Generation Food Rural Partners is an investment fund licensed as a Rural Business Investment Company. It creates and supports companies based on scientific discoveries and intellectual property developed by universities, research institutions and industry organizations.

The fund’s backers include Farm Credit Services of America, CoBank, Compeer Financial and Mid-America Farm Credit.
