Maple announced it has launched on Base, Coinbase-incubated Layer 2 network, in a move aimed at expanding distribution for its institutional-focused credit and yield products across one of the largest and fastest-growing onchain ecosystems.
In an announcement dated January 22, 2025, Maple described the Base deployment as a strategic step in its broader effort to bring institutional-style asset management onchain at scale. The company said the expansion provides direct access to Base’s user and developer base while opening new potential capital channels between DeFi markets and financial applications being built on the network.
Maple said its yield products will be available across the Base ecosystem from day one through major DeFi venues, and that Chainlink is being used to support cross-chain deployment between Base and Ethereum mainnet to enable access and movement of the products across networks.
The company also positioned the rollout as a bridge into fintech and neobank use cases, arguing that Base is increasingly being adopted as infrastructure for consumer-facing financial applications. Maple said this could create a new distribution layer for institutional credit strategies and support broader capital flows across the onchain economy.
Maple added that the Base launch is the first phase of a longer-term expansion plan that it said will extend distribution of its yield products to a significantly larger share of the onchain user base over time, including via fintech applications.
Maple, founded in 2021, describes itself as the largest onchain asset manager. The company said it has facilitated more than $17 billion in loans and offers products spanning secured lending and structured offerings.
