Mappedin, a Waterloo, Ontario-based digital indoor mapping platform, announced it has raised $24.5 million in growth equity financing led by Edison Partners, with participation from Betatron Venture Group.

The new capital will be used to expand Mappedin’s spatial technology platform beyond individual buildings and into city-scale indoor mapping deployments, while also increasing accessibility for first responders, safety organizations, and large public venues.

Mappedin addresses a major gap in digital infrastructure. While much of the outdoor world has been mapped digitally, indoor environments remain largely unmapped due to privacy constraints and constantly changing layouts. The company leverages AI and LiDAR technology to create and maintain dynamic 3D digital maps that support real-time navigation, operational workflows, security response, and spatial intelligence.

The platform has already mapped more than 10 billion square feet of indoor space across 86 countries. Its technology is used by major organizations, including Simon Property Group shopping centers, Los Angeles International Airport, and stadiums across Major League Baseball.

The company plans to accelerate the adoption of its platform as a foundational layer for managing complex indoor environments, spanning customer experience, operations, and safety use cases.

KEY QUOTES

“We started by helping organizations solve basic navigation challenges inside large venues. Customers, however, are increasingly using these self-designed, dynamic, digital maps, to power far more, from operational intelligence to security coordination. Our technology can translate to a better customer experience at a mall or saving lives in emergency situations. We’re looking forward to teaming with Edison Partners in this next chapter as we extend this unique enterprise solution to additional customers worldwide.”

Hongwei Liu, CEO And Co-Founder, Mappedin

“Mappedin is tackling a problem that has historically been incredibly difficult to solve: how to efficiently digitize and maintain accurate indoor spatial data at scale with operational relevance. Hongwei and his team have built the infrastructure to enable indoor mapping and venue operations , a platform that reflects multiple workflows and high-value use cases across several commercial and public market segments. With billions of square feet already mapped and growing adoption among large enterprise customers, we believe Mappedin is uniquely positioned to become the de facto indoor mapping layer that powers digital experiences, operational intelligence, and safety systems across the built world.”
