Every CEO has a different type of personality, which can drive the culture at companies. If a CEO is too aggressive, then it can be detrimental to all of the employees. Billionaire Mark Cuban acknowledged that he used to be the type of business leader that would curse and get mad, but then realized he had to change and become nicer.

Cuban revealed this tip in a video interview with Vanity Fair with the other “sharks” from Shark Tank as part of a segment called Shark Tank’s Cast’s 11 Best Investing Tips:

Tip #10 was “Nice Sells.”

“I think one of the most underrated skills in the world of business right now is being nice. Nice sells,” said Cuban in the interview.

If you are aggressive or rude during phone calls, then it would turn off the person that you may be conducting business with. And this could turn into lost opportunities.

Mark Cuban’s partner at Broadcast.com Todd Wagner told Cuban that he was cursing too much. And Wagner pointed out that not everyone was as accepting of cursing as Cuban was. “Calm the f**k down,” Wagner told Cuban.

Then it became apparent to Cuban that the nicer he became, the more productive his employees became. And then sales increased as a result.
