Marqeta has named Lukasz Strozek as its new Chief Technology Officer, effective May 18, 2026. The Oakland-based modern card issuing platform said Strozek will lead the company’s global technology and engineering functions.
Strozek arrives at Marqeta with two decades of experience leading engineering organizations across early-stage, growth, and public companies in regulated financial services. He joins from LendingClub Corp., where he served as CTO overseeing engineering, product, and data organizations. Before that, he held the same title at Hippo Insurance, where he managed software engineering, data engineering, and product management teams across multiple business lines.
Earlier in his career, Strozek held engineering and product leadership roles at Bridgewater Associates, Bolt Financial, and SoFi — the latter following its 2018 acquisition of Clara Lending, a digital mortgage platform he co-founded. The breadth of his background spans consumer lending, insurtech, and institutional finance, positioning him as a versatile operator for Marqeta’s next phase of growth.
Marqeta processed nearly $400 billion in annual payments volume in 2025 and is certified to operate in more than 40 countries. The company said Strozek’s appointment is aimed at advancing its global technology roadmap and accelerating innovation across its card issuing platform.
