Marriott International has appointed Chris Buckner as Senior Vice President of Loyalty, strengthening the leadership team responsible for the hotel company’s loyalty and card offerings.
Peggy Roe, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer at Marriott International, announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, saying Chris brings extensive experience across airlines, loyalty and customer experience.
In his new role, Chris will join the team overseeing Marriott’s efforts to evolve Marriott Bonvoy, the company’s flagship loyalty program.
Roe said his background is expected to bring a fresh perspective as Marriott continues developing loyalty experiences intended to create greater value for hotels, owners and members.
The appointment places Chris within an important part of Marriott’s customer strategy. Loyalty programs can serve as a significant connection between hospitality companies and their most engaged customers, spanning hotel stays, credit card partnerships and other member experiences.
According to Roe, Chris has worked extensively across the airline, loyalty and customer experience sectors, giving him experience with industries where customer retention, rewards programs and long-term engagement play central roles.
Marriott is positioning that experience as complementary to its continued development of Marriott Bonvoy and its broader loyalty and card offerings.
Roe highlighted Chris’ customer focus and said his perspective and energy would support Marriott’s effort to make its loyalty ecosystem more meaningful for members while also creating value for hotel owners.
