Marshall University has partnered with gener8tor to launch a second cohort of its gBETA startup accelerator at the university’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (iCenter), expanding support for early-stage founders across West Virginia.
The expansion is backed by a $1.2 million gift from Quality Insights, which will fund three years of programming aimed at strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem and supporting high-growth startups.
The gBETA at Marshall’s iCenter program is a free, seven-week accelerator that provides founders with hands-on coaching, concierge support, and access to a network of mentors, customers, and investors. The program is designed to help early-stage companies build traction and prepare for future investment opportunities.
The initiative builds on the success of its inaugural cohort, which launched in June 2025 and included five startups spanning industries such as agriculture, digital infrastructure, medical technology, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. Those companies have collectively raised more than $3 million in growth capital and created jobs within the state.
The second cohort will focus on founders and pre-seed startups based in West Virginia with high-growth potential. The program will prioritize sectors aligned with Marshall University’s strategic strengths, including advanced energy, manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.
