MassMutual Ventures Launches $150 Million Climate Technology Fund II, Bringing Climate Commitment To $300 Million

MassMutual Ventures has launched Climate Technology Fund II, a $150 million venture fund focused on early-stage companies applying climate technology and artificial intelligence to real assets.

The new vehicle brings MassMutual Ventures’ total capital committed to climate technology to $300 million.

Climate Technology Fund II will primarily invest in North American companies developing physical and digital technologies for energy infrastructure, real estate and natural resources.

The strategy targets businesses that help asset owners and operators improve performance, lower costs and manage operational or physical risks.

MassMutual Ventures sees growing opportunities emerging from increased electricity demand, large infrastructure investment requirements, physical climate risks and adoption of industry-specific AI tools.

The fund follows MassMutual Ventures’ first Climate Technology Fund, launched in 2023.

That vehicle has invested in 16 companies across clean power, energy systems, digital infrastructure and climate adaptation.

The second fund will maintain a thesis-driven investment approach built around sector research and engagement with founders.

MassMutual Ventures is particularly focused on technologies capable of producing measurable economic value for owners and operators of large physical assets.
