Mastercam Acquires MLC CAD Systems’ CAM Business Line To Expand U.S. Presence

Mastercam, a CAD/CAM software provider for manufacturing and part of the Sandvik Group, announced it has completed a strategic acquisition to strengthen its market presence in key U.S. states. The company acquired the CAM business line of MLC CAD Systems, a longtime Mastercam channel partner.

Mastercam said MLC CAD Systems has supported manufacturers in the Western and Southwestern United States for more than 40 years, providing CAD/CAM solutions and technical support. By bringing the CAM business line into Mastercam’s operations, the company expects to deepen regional coverage, improve responsiveness, and enhance customer service in those markets.

Mastercam said MLC CAD Systems will continue to work with the company as a technical solutions provider, shifting its focus to other complementary design and manufacturing solutions. The transaction also reflects a broader move away from a traditional channel partner model toward more direct operations in the regions involved, which Mastercam said will help it deliver faster issue resolution, localized technical expertise, and customized training led by in-market specialists familiar with local manufacturing requirements.

The company positioned the acquisition as part of its growth strategy, combining product innovation with targeted M&A to expand reach and strengthen customer support capabilities. As part of Sandvik’s digital manufacturing portfolio, Mastercam said it remains focused on advancing connected manufacturing processes and supporting manufacturers globally.
