Dynasty Financial Partners announced that former Major League Baseball player Matthew LaPorta has joined the firm as its newest Executive-in-Residence.
The addition strengthens Dynasty’s sports and entertainment vertical and supports the firm’s Advisor to CEO program, which provides content and coaching for CEOs across Dynasty’s network of independent registered investment advisors. Dynasty launched the program in 2023.
LaPorta was a two-time All-American and two-time SEC Player of the Year at the University of Florida. He was selected seventh overall in the 2007 MLB Draft and played professionally for seven years with the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians. He was also a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team.
After retiring from baseball, LaPorta transitioned into finance and entrepreneurship. Most recently, he served as founder and operating partner of Wayfinder Capital Partners.
Before that, LaPorta was Director of Private Equity at A111 Capital, where he sourced proprietary deal flow, structured acquisitions, and led capital raising initiatives. He was also a partner at True Up Capital, a sports advisory and investment firm.
Dynasty said LaPorta’s background brings experience across sports industry advisory, middle-market M&A, capital raising, athlete-focused financial services, and network-driven deal flow.
The appointment comes as Dynasty continues expanding its presence in sports and entertainment. The firm was recently named the Official Wealth Management Partner of the United Football League and continues supporting RIAs in its network that serve athletes, entertainers, entrepreneurs, and creators.
Dynasty Financial Partners is celebrating its 15th year. The firm’s network of independent registered advisory firms includes more than 725 advisors and over $125 billion in assets.
Dynasty provides independent wealth management firms with access to an open architecture platform that includes technology, business services, investment management capabilities, and investment banking services for the asset and wealth management industries.
