Maven has appointed Sabrina Mahmood as an Investment Manager in its East Midlands investment team, strengthening deal coverage across the East and South East Midlands.

Mahmood joined Maven’s Nottingham office at the end of 2025 and will lead deal origination and execution for MEIF II Debt Finance East and South East Midlands, part of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II delivered by the British Business Bank. Her responsibilities include sourcing and delivering MEIF II debt investments across the region and managing a growing portfolio of companies.

Maven said Mahmood will also play a role in its Female Founder Funding Programme, which supports women-led businesses seeking growth finance. The firm noted its commitment as a signatory to the Investing in Women Code, which aims to improve women entrepreneurs’ access to tools, resources, and finance from the financial services sector.

Before joining Maven, Mahmood spent 11 years at Santander, bringing more than a decade of corporate and commercial banking experience. Her prior work included new business origination, supporting regional companies with international expansion, and managing SME client portfolios.

Maven is the Fund Manager for the £46 million debt fund for the East and South East Midlands under the broader £400 million Midlands Engine Investment Fund II. The firm said MEIF II Maven Debt Finance has backed smaller companies across the region since launch, including Kalas Packaging in Boston, Lincolnshire, ShawPak in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, Acres Insurance Brokers in Rushden, Northamptonshire, and Lemon and Lime Interiors in Melbourne, Derbyshire.

As Fund Manager of MEIF II Debt Finance East and South East Midlands, Maven said it can provide business loans ranging from £100,000 to £2 million to support early- and later-stage businesses with growth potential across sectors.

KEY QUOTES:

“We’re delighted to welcome Sabrina to our expanding team. The response to MEIF II has been fantastic and we are exceptionally busy so Sabrina’s appointment will help in continuing Maven’s success in identifying and supporting high-potential businesses across the East and South East Midlands. We have always recognised the importance of having a genuine local presence with a team of passionate, experienced professionals on the ground to help support our SME community.”

Jonathan Lowe, Partner, Regional Debt Funds, Maven

“I am proud to be part of the MEIF II team, working with local businesses to help them navigate the challenges and opportunities of their growth journeys. In the world of finance, diversity remains a challenge, and the underrepresentation of women in is a well-known issue so I’m delighted to contribute to Maven’s initiatives supporting female entrepreneurs.”
