Mayer Brown Adds Former CHIPS Program Office Chief Counsel Sven Hodges

Mayer Brown announced that Sven Hodges has joined the firm as a partner in its Projects & Infrastructure group in Washington, D.C. He will focus on federal financing programs and infrastructure projects.

Hodges previously served as Chief Counsel for Semiconductor Incentives for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Office. He also previously served as an Assistant Chief Counsel for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, now known as the Office of Energy Dominance Financing.

Hodges brings more than 20 years of experience advising federal financing programs, private lenders, and investors on complex financing transactions for infrastructure projects. His work has spanned the semiconductor, automotive, and energy sectors.

In addition to his federal government experience, Hodges previously served as Managing Director for Legal & Regulatory Affairs at NY Green Bank, a state-sponsored sustainable infrastructure credit fund. He also worked as in-house counsel at GE Energy Financial Services and began his career in private practice as a project finance lawyer in New York.

Mayer Brown said Hodges’ background will strengthen the firm’s federal financing and infrastructure capabilities in Washington, D.C., particularly as clients navigate priorities such as advanced manufacturing, energy security, and AI infrastructure.
