Mayer Brown Adds Leveraged Finance And Private Credit Partner Kerrick Seay From White & Case In New York

Mayer Brown has appointed Kerrick Seay as a partner in its Global Leveraged Finance and Private Capital Group in New York, expanding its capabilities in leveraged finance, private credit, acquisition financing, and liability management transactions. Seay joins from White & Case, where he advised investment banks, private credit funds, and bank arrangers on complex financing transactions across multiple industries.

Seay’s practice focuses on advising major financial institutions, direct lenders, and other capital providers on sophisticated debt financing arrangements.

His experience includes syndicated lending, leveraged acquisition financing, private credit transactions, restructuring-related financings, and liability management exercises.

The appointment strengthens Mayer Brown’s capabilities at the intersection of traditional bank lending, private credit, and corporate restructurings.

Seay brings a combination of private practice experience and substantial in-house legal expertise.

Before joining White & Case, he spent approximately seven years in Morgan Stanley’s Legal and Compliance Department.

During that period, he advised the firm’s U.S. Leveraged and Acquisition Finance, Liability Management, and Loan Products businesses.

He also supported matters involving project finance and structured products, gaining experience with the legal and commercial requirements of major financial institutions.

His background provides insight into the financing structures, transaction execution requirements, and risk considerations facing investment banks and other capital providers.

Seay also has experience in infrastructure financing, complementing Mayer Brown’s established Projects and Infrastructure practice.

At Mayer Brown, he will advise clients across a range of financing transactions while working with the firm’s broader private capital and restructuring teams.

The appointment reflects the firm’s continued investment in its global financing capabilities as clients increasingly pursue transactions involving different forms of institutional capital.

Mayer Brown’s Global Leveraged Finance and Private Capital Group represents financial institutions, private credit providers, investment sponsors, and corporate borrowers.

Its work spans leveraged and acquisition finance, syndicated lending, private credit, restructuring financings, and liability management transactions.

Seay’s arrival follows several other appointments to the practice.

Mayer Brown recently added Rob Mathews, David Becker, and Ben Bierwirth in London and Justin Hewett in Houston, expanding its financing capabilities across major financial markets.

The addition of Seay further strengthens its New York office and provides additional experience for clients pursuing complex debt transactions in the United States and internationally.
