Mayer Brown has added Rob Mathews, David Becker and Ben Bierwirth as partners in its London Banking & Finance practice, significantly expanding the firm’s leveraged finance, high-yield and private capital capabilities.
The three lawyers join Mayer Brown from Baker McKenzie and have worked together extensively on sophisticated and cross-border capital structures.
Their arrival adds greater depth across high-yield debt, term loan B and leveraged finance, complementing Mayer Brown’s existing syndicated lending, direct lending, restructuring, structured finance and capital solutions practices.
The hires also strengthen Mayer Brown’s ability to deliver coordinated New York and English law financing advice across EMEA, the U.S. and APAC.
Mathews has decades of experience advising global investment banks, sponsors and corporations on high-yield and complex financing matters.
Becker brings more than 25 years of capital markets, leveraged finance and high-yield experience and represents banks, private credit providers, borrowers and issuers.
Bierwirth advises on leveraged finance transactions, high-yield offerings, syndicated facilities, restructurings, debt exchanges, tender offers and liability management transactions.
Their appointments continue a broader expansion of Mayer Brown’s London finance practice following several other recent partner hires.
