Mayer Brown: Nikolai Sokolov Added As New Partner In PE Practice

Mayer Brown has announced the addition of Nikolai Sokolov as a new partner in its private equity practice, based in the firm’s Frankfurt office. Sokolov joins from Hogan Lovells, bringing extensive experience advising both private equity and strategic investors on a variety of domestic and international transactions.

Sokolov specializes in complex deals, including LBOs, MBOs, co-investments, carve-outs, and joint ventures. His industry expertise spans business services, software, technology, defense, and infrastructure.

This move continues Mayer Brown’s strategy to bolster its private equity capabilities. The firm also recently added Dr. Octávio de Sousa in June 2025 and Fabio Borggreve in September 2023 to the Frankfurt team.

The new hires in Germany are part of a broader international growth push for Mayer Brown. The firm also recently expanded its presence in Paris and Chicago, demonstrating a commitment to growing its private equity practice globally.
