Mayfield has added Aditya “Adit” Singh as a partner as the early-stage venture capital firm expands its investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure within a broader $3 billion AI strategy.
Singh will focus on backing technical founders across AI hardware, software infrastructure, cybersecurity and physical AI.
His appointment reflects Mayfield’s view that many of the foundational technologies required to support the next generation of artificial intelligence companies are still being developed.
Mayfield is increasing the portion of its AI strategy dedicated to infrastructure while expanding its ability to partner with companies from their earliest stages.
Approximately 70% of Mayfield’s investments begin at inception, making the firm frequently one of the first institutional investors supporting a founding team.
Mayfield’s AI infrastructure track record includes NUVIA, which was acquired by Qualcomm, along with Lumilens, SambaNova Systems, Frore Systems and Upscale AI.
Singh joins the firm after more than a decade as an early-stage investor.
Most recently, he was a General Partner at Cota Capital. He previously co-founded Neotribe Ventures and served as a partner at Foundation Capital.
Across his investing career, Singh has been involved with four companies that went public and four that were acquired.
Those companies include Cerebras and Seraphic, which CrowdStrike acquired.
Singh also brings operating experience to the role.
He co-founded networking startup Bitsplay Systems and served as the first product manager at Enphase Energy, joining the company before its IPO and helping scale the business. Earlier in his career, he held technical leadership roles at Cisco.
Singh has known Mayfield Managing Partner Navin Chaddha for about 15 years, and the pair have worked together across three companies.
Mayfield expects Singh’s combination of investing, operating and technical experience to strengthen its ability to identify and support infrastructure companies from formation through later stages of growth.
