MazeMap, a Norway-based wayfinding and space intelligence software provider, has acquired Thing Technologies GmbH, the company behind the Thing-it workplace platform, in a deal aimed at creating a global leader in indoor navigation and workplace space analytics.

The combination brings MazeMap’s indoor navigation, mapping, and spatial data capabilities together with Thing Technologies’ space booking and utilization analytics, strengthening MazeMap’s position in complex built environments such as university campuses, hospitals, and large enterprise facilities.

The combined group supports customers including ASML, BASF, Deloitte, Hapag-Lloyd, Rolls-Royce, UCB, and Oxford University. MazeMap said its platform helps 5 million users find rooms and resources while giving building owners data to optimize space and improve resource utilization. Following the transaction, the expanded analytics and workplace capabilities will operate under the MazeMap Workplace brand, with MazeMap highlighting deeper functionality in utilization analytics, space-sharing models, and hybrid workplace use cases.

MazeMap framed the deal as part of a broader growth strategy that includes both organic expansion and further acquisitions. The company said it is entering its next phase from a position of financial strength and sustained growth, with operations across Norway, Poland, Germany, the U.S., and Australia, and customers in more than 30 countries.

Thing Technologies has been renamed to MazeMap GmbH. Klaus Berberich, founder of Thing Technologies, will lead MazeMap Workplace as general manager.
