McGuireWoods has added Andrew M. Barrios as a partner in its Chicago office, continuing to expand the firm’s Insurance Recovery Practice Group and strengthening its ability to represent corporate policyholders in complex coverage disputes. Barrios joins from Reed Smith and brings more than a decade of complex litigation experience.
He will help lead the growth of McGuireWoods’ insurance recovery practice in Chicago.
Barrios advises corporate policyholders across a broad range of insurance coverage matters, including general and excess liability, first-party property and business interruption, directors and officers liability, errors and omissions and professional liability, cyber and data breach liability, and representations and warranties insurance.
His practice also includes disputes involving contractual indemnity and risk transfer, often alongside insurance recovery strategies.
Barrios has helped clients recover more than $200 million from insurers.
He is a member of the Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and has tried cases to verdict in both Illinois and Texas.
His client base spans industries including manufacturing, logistics, energy, agriculture, commercial real estate, healthcare and media.
Barrios also has significant experience handling product liability and environmental insurance coverage disputes.
His addition strengthens a McGuireWoods Insurance Recovery team that represents policyholders across healthcare, energy and utilities, private equity, financial services, manufacturing, food and beverage, sports and entertainment, retail, aerospace and real estate.
The firm said its Insurance Recovery Practice Group recovers nearly $1 billion annually for clients.
