Meanwhile Raises $37.5 Million Led By Bain Capital Crypto

Bitcoin-denominated life insurer Meanwhile raised $37.5 million from existing investors as it expands internationally to high-net-worth clients. The round was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with participation from Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital.

Meanwhile has now raised more than $180 million and counts Sam Altman among its existing backers.

The company describes itself as the first licensed life insurer operating entirely in Bitcoin.

Demand has been particularly strong across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Earlier in 2026, Meanwhile launched BTC Life 1-Pay, a single-premium whole life insurance policy for high-net-worth customers outside the United States.

The product follows BTC 10-Pay, which was designed specifically for U.S. taxpayers.

Meanwhile has signed 15 brokerage partners serving wealthy families, including firms operating in Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland.

Partners include Lioner and Apeiron Group.

BTC Life 1-Pay enables customers to pay a single premium in Bitcoin and receive a guaranteed death benefit denominated in Bitcoin.

The policy’s value also grows in Bitcoin, and after the first year policyholders can borrow up to 90% of its value without a repayment schedule or margin calls.

Policies can be owned by individuals, trusts, or companies, making the product applicable to succession and estate planning.

Meanwhile said net long-term underwriting income has already surpassed its total for 2025 and is on pace to more than double during 2026.

KEY QUOTES:

“We’re reaching a turning point where more high-net-worth clients are asking not just how to hold Bitcoin and digital assets, but how to plan around them and ultimately transfer that wealth to the next generation.”

Justin Man, CEO of Apeiron Group

“Wealthy families around the world already hold Bitcoin. What they haven’t had is a regulated way to pass it on. Brokers came to us because their clients kept asking. This round lets us keep up with them.”

Zac Townsend, Co-Founder and CEO of Meanwhile

“Meanwhile owns every layer of a regulated life insurer and builds it like an AI-enabled startup. The growth this year proves the model, and we’re glad to back them again.”
