Med-Metrix announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Vitalware, a revenue workflow and analytics software company owned by Health Catalyst. The acquisition is designed to strengthen Med-Metrix’s mid-revenue-cycle capabilities by enhancing charge capture, coding accuracy, and revenue integrity functions to improve net revenue yield for healthcare providers.
The transaction aligns with Med-Metrix’s strategy of combining technology-enabled services with scalable software solutions. Following the acquisition, Vitalware’s leadership team and employees are expected to join Med-Metrix, expanding the company’s ability to provide end-to-end revenue cycle management solutions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Vitalware’s cloud-based platform supports chargemaster management, revenue integrity, price transparency, and coding workflows. These capabilities play a critical role in reimbursement accuracy and financial performance for hospitals and health systems. By integrating Vitalware’s technology, Med-Metrix expects to help clients identify revenue leakage, improve compliance, and optimize net patient revenue.
Founded in 2011, Vitalware became part of Health Catalyst in 2020 and has established itself as a leader in mid-revenue cycle software. The company’s chargemaster management platform has earned Best in KLAS recognition five times and is used by hospitals and health systems to improve coding, billing, and revenue integrity processes.
Med-Metrix said the acquisition will further enhance its technology-enabled revenue cycle management platform and support continued growth across its healthcare client base. The company provides revenue cycle management and business intelligence solutions to health systems and physician groups throughout the United States.
Health Catalyst CEO Ben Albert said the transaction marks the next phase for Vitalware and positions the business to continue growing under Med-Metrix’s ownership. Harvest Partners, a private equity firm backing Med-Metrix, also expressed support for the acquisition, noting that Vitalware strengthens Med-Metrix’s mid-revenue cycle capabilities and broader growth strategy.
