Medincell has secured an additional €13.8 million in non-dilutive financing from European commercial banks and Bpifrance, bringing the biopharmaceutical company’s total non-dilutive financing secured since July 2026 to €41.8 million.
The latest financing follows €28 million in non-dilutive bank financing announced in July. Medincell said the new capital was secured on market terms and does not include equity-linked instruments, meaning the financing will not dilute existing shareholders.
The company has also taken steps to reduce and extend its outstanding debt. In July 2026, Medincell repaid €23.2 million to the European Investment Bank, including €20 million of principal and related capitalized interest. The principal repayment represented 50% of its existing EIB financing facility.
Combined with the new financing, those actions have extended Medincell’s debt maturity profile through September 2031. The company reported €84.8 million in cash and cash equivalents as of March 31, 2026.
Medincell is a clinical- and commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company developing long-acting injectable medicines using its proprietary BEPO and BEPO Star drug-delivery technologies. The technologies are designed to enable controlled delivery of therapeutic drugs for periods ranging from several days to several months following a subcutaneous or local injection.
Risperidone LAI became the first treatment based on BEPO technology to receive FDA approval, initially for schizophrenia in April 2023 and subsequently for Bipolar I Disorder in October 2025. Teva markets the treatment in the U.S. under the UZEDY brand.
Medincell reached another commercial milestone in October 2026 when a once-monthly olanzapine long-acting injectable treatment for adults with schizophrenia received FDA approval. Teva plans to launch the product in the U.S. under the WELTRUZA brand during the fourth quarter of 2026. A European Marketing Authorization Application for the treatment was accepted by the European Medicines Agency in May 2026.
Beyond its commercial products, Medincell maintains a pipeline of therapeutic candidates ranging from formulation-stage programs through Phase 3 clinical trials. The Montpellier, France-based company employs more than 150 people representing over 27 nationalities and works with pharmaceutical companies and foundations to develop long-acting treatment options across multiple therapeutic areas.
