MediView XR, a medtech company pioneering the use of augmented reality for surgical navigation and imaging, has announced the close of its $24 million Series A funding round. The funding round was led by GE HealthCare and joined by Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Edge Ventures, Emplify Health’s investment arm, and JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund.
This strong syndicate of healthcare and technology leaders signals deep confidence in MediView’s vision to transform how clinicians visualize and interact with patient anatomy during procedures.
Founded on intellectual property developed at the Cleveland Clinic, MediView has introduced an FDA-cleared platform that enables practitioners to visualize 3D anatomy through a patient’s skin in real-time. This augmented reality system combines CT scans with live ultrasound, allowing clinicians to interact directly with internal structures, such as organs, blood vessels, and tumors, within the patient’s body. The result is a hands-free, head-up experience that improves precision and workflow during minimally invasive procedures.
Traditional imaging forces physicians to mentally convert 2D black-and-white images into 3D maps, often requiring them to look away from the patient and rely on memory and guesswork. MediView’s platform eliminates that cognitive burden by overlaying real-time 3D visuals directly onto the patient, helping clinicians maintain natural hand–eye coordination and make faster, more accurate decisions. This is especially valuable during complex interventions such as biopsies, ablations, and targeted injections.
With the new funding, MediView plans to expand the adoption of its AR solutions across hospitals and clinics, deepen partnerships with imaging and device companies, and continue to validate its technology through clinical studies and regulatory approvals. The company will also expand its operational capacity to meet the rising demand and extend its platform to additional clinical specialties.
MediView’s approach is part of a broader shift in healthcare, where augmented reality and artificial intelligence are converging to streamline surgical workflows. By automating tasks such as image processing and integrating real-time data insights, MediView is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation, offering a new standard for interventional care that combines advanced visualization with intuitive guidance.
