Menlo Security: Interview With Co-Founder & CEO Amir Ben-Efraim About The Secure Enterprise Browser Company

By Amit Chowdhry • Apr 14, 2025

Menlo Security protects organizations from cyber threats that attack web browsers and beyond. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Menlo Security co-founder and CEO Amir Ben-Efraim to learn more about the company.

Amir Ben-Efraim’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Ben-Efraim said:

“My journey in cybersecurity spans over 25 years. Prior to co-founding Menlo Security, I held key leadership positions at prominent technology companies. I was Vice President of Cloud Security at Juniper Networks, where I helped define company strategy for securing the virtualized data center, and public and private clouds. I joined Juniper via its acquisition of Altor Networks, which I founded in 2007 and served as CEO. Prior to that, I was an executive at Check Point Software.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Ben-Efraim shared:

“At Menlo Security, we embarked on a mission to fundamentally transform cybersecurity. Rather than simply iterating on existing solutions, my co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Poornima DeBolle, and I sought to definitively solve the pervasive security challenges facing organizations. We recognized that the web browser is not only where employees spend the majority of their time, but also the origin point for most cyber threats. This realization led us to pioneer a Zero Trust approach centered on isolation technology, effectively eliminating malware, securing work, and ensuring uninterrupted productivity. Menlo Security was founded based on three critical beliefs:

1.) Prevention is the most important aspect of a security architecture.

2.) User experience and productivity should not be sacrificed for security.

3.) Reactive detection will not protect enterprises from evasive threats.”

Core Products

Menlo Security

What are the company’s core products and features? Ben-Efraim explained:

“In February 2024, we launched the Menlo Secure Enterprise Browser, the industry’s first cloud-delivered secure enterprise browser solution. This groundbreaking SaaS solution delivers end-to-end visibility and dynamic policy enforcement directly inside browser sessions while blocking zero-hour phishing, malware and ransomware attacks. With this launch, we added new capabilities for managing local browser security policies within Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, protecting users with the Menlo Secure Cloud Browser and securing access to applications and protecting associated data down to the last mile.  We enable enterprises to turn their existing browsers into Secure Enterprise Browsers.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since its launch? Ben-Efraim noted:

“Menlo Security has consistently pushed the boundaries of cybersecurity since its inception. While the company began by pioneering the category of remote browser isolation, it has evolved to encompass so much more. The Menlo Secure Enterprise Browser protects users, keeping all threats away from local endpoints. It also manages the local browser, transforming the browser into part of a layered security architecture as opposed to an open doorway to enterprises.”

“By managing and securing the browser environment, we provide unparalleled control and visibility. As the workforce becomes increasingly remote and hybrid, Menlo Security delivers seamless Zero Trust access to both public and private applications. This empowers employees to work securely from anywhere, without compromising productivity or user experience. Our continuous innovation and commitment to security ensure that Menlo Security remains at the forefront of protecting organizations and individuals in an ever-evolving digital world.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Ben-Efraim cited:

“At Menlo Security, we measure success not only by our technological innovation but also by the trust our customers place in us and the tangible impact we deliver. We’re proud to have earned the trust of over 1,000 enterprises and government agencies worldwide, including 8 of the 10 largest financial institutions. Our platform analyzes over 400 billion web sessions each year, providing unparalleled visibility into global threat activity.”

“Recently, we celebrated a significant milestone by surpassing $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). This milestone represents a powerful validation of our vision and the trust our customers bestow on us to secure and manage their browsers.”

“Our commitment to innovation and financial sustainability is evident in our successful Series E funding round in 2020, which has enabled us to operate profitably without the need for further fundraising.”

Funding/Revenue

When asking Ben-Efraim about the company’s funding and revenue details, he revealed:

“Menlo Security has surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), and the company holds $350 million in total contract value and raised $260 million in total funding.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Ben-Efraim affirmed:

“In the rapidly evolving landscape of browser security, Menlo Security stands apart with a fundamentally different approach: we turn every browser into a Secure Enterprise Browser. By contrast, our competition focuses on Replacement Browsers, advocating for enterprises to replace their existing browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge) in favor of a new browser. Menlo Security provides a solution that works with your preferred, existing browser.”

“We have a vision for the future of cybersecurity and the critical role that Secure Enterprise Browsers will play in protecting organizations worldwide, with proven, innovative technology, while letting users continue to use their favorite browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Safari). We were the first to deliver a cloud-based Secure Enterprise Browser, providing comprehensive protection against internet-borne threats across all devices. This commitment to user-centric security, combined with our cloud-native architecture and unparalleled threat intelligence, sets Menlo Security apart. We’re not simply offering another browser – we’re redefining browser security for the modern enterprise.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future goals? Ben-Efraim concluded:

“At Menlo Security, we know the digital world feels dangerous. We get it. That’s why we pioneered Secure Enterprise Browsing. Security, simplified. We don’t believe security should be complicated. Menlo keeps you safe without getting in the way of how you work. Use Chrome, Edge, or Safari –  you choose. We use AI to defend the browser and we enable secure access and zero trust architectures that are easy to own and easy for end users, too. Peace of mind, for every enterprise.”

“From government agencies to corner shops, we’re here to make the digital world a safer place for everyone. We’re building a future where technology empowers without creating undue risk. Explore with confidence and leave the browser security to us.”
