Mercer Expanding Canadian Presence With Acquisition Of Hexarem

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 4, 2025

Mercer, a business of Marsh McLennan, has acquired Hexarem, a Montreal-based human resources consulting firm known for its expertise in executive compensation and governance advisory services. The transaction further strengthens Mercer’s presence in Canada and expands its capabilities in helping organizations design competitive compensation programs. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2013 by Patrice Gélinas, Hexarem serves a wide range of public and private sector clients across Canada. The firm provides in-depth compensation analysis, including total compensation benchmarking and pay program design, offering strategic insights to help organizations attract and retain key talent.

Mercer said the acquisition will enhance its executive compensation consulting capabilities and broaden its ability to serve clients across major Canadian industries. Through the integration, Hexarem’s clients will gain access to Mercer’s global resources and advisory expertise in HR management, retirement, employee benefits, and investments. They will also benefit from the broader suite of solutions available through Marsh McLennan’s other businesses—Marsh, Guy Carpenter, and Oliver Wyman.

The deal marks another step in Mercer’s strategy to expand its advisory footprint in Canada and support organizations facing increasingly complex compensation and talent challenges amid shifting economic conditions.
