AI agent developer Manus said it is joining Meta, a significant milestone for its work on general-purpose autonomous agents designed to help users with research, automation, and other complex tasks.
In a statement announcing the move, Manus positioned the combination as an endorsement of its approach to “General AI Agents” and its ambition to serve as an “execution layer” that turns advanced AI capabilities into scalable systems capable of completing end-to-end work in real-world settings.
Manus said its agent has advanced through rapid iteration since launch, with a focus on improving reliability and usefulness across a broader set of practical use cases. The company reported that, over the past few months, its agent has processed more than 147 trillion tokens and supported the creation of more than 80 million “virtual computers,” metrics it cited as evidence of growing adoption and operational scale.
The company said it is prioritizing customer continuity following the announcement. Manus said it will continue to sell and operate its product subscription service through its app and website, and that the company will continue to operate from Singapore.
Looking ahead, Manus said it aims to expand beyond its current user base by ultimately bringing its subscription offering to the larger audience available through Meta’s platforms, including businesses and consumers.
While the deal size was undisclosed, sources with The Wall Street Journal reported it was for over $2 billion.
