Assaf Keren announced he has joined Meta as its next Chief Information Security Officer, transitioning into the role following the departure of Guy Rosen later this year. Keren brings two decades of security leadership experience, having previously served as Chief Information Security Officer at PayPal and Qualtrics, along with prior work defending government networks.
Keren said Meta’s position at the frontier of AI development raises the stakes for securing the systems billions of people rely on, arguing that as AI becomes embedded in the world’s load-bearing systems, security infrastructure needs to be built in from the start rather than added afterward, at the same pace and scale as AI development itself.
He said he will spend the coming months working closely with Rosen and the existing security team to ramp up in the new role.
