Meta announced that it is expanding the range of real-time content available through its Meta AI assistant by integrating news and other media from international publishers.
According to the company, Meta AI will now provide users with broader access to timely information, including global breaking news, entertainment coverage, lifestyle stories, and other real-time content across Meta’s apps and devices. When users ask Meta AI news-related questions, the assistant will draw from a wider variety of sources and surface relevant articles, along with links that let users visit publishers’ websites for more details.
The company said the expansion is designed to help people discover timely and relevant information tailored to their interests while also directing traffic to partner news outlets.
As part of the initiative, Meta has partnered with several international publishers, including News Corp, Le Figaro, Prisa, and Süddeutsche Zeitung. These partnerships allow Meta AI to reference and link to articles from these outlets when generating responses to news-related queries.
Meta said the integrations are intended to improve the assistant’s ability to keep up with real-time events and present information from a broader set of perspectives. The company noted that delivering accurate, timely updates on rapidly evolving events remains a challenge for AI systems, and that integrating more news sources aims to strengthen the assistant’s responsiveness and relevance.
The company added that it plans to continue expanding the range of content sources and topics available through Meta AI over time. Meta said the goal is to provide something for a wide range of interests as people increasingly use the assistant for activities such as exploring topics, generating creative ideas, editing media, and learning more about current events.
