Meta announced the launch of Incognito Chat with Meta AI, a new feature that enables completely private conversations with AI across WhatsApp and the Meta AI app. Built on the company’s Private Processing technology, the feature is intended to provide users with a secure and temporary environment for sensitive conversations involving personal, financial, health, or work-related information.
The company said that Incognito Chat creates a private session visible only to the user. According to Meta, conversations are processed in a secure environment that even the company cannot access. The chats are not saved, and messages disappear by default, allowing users to interact with AI without a persistent history.
Meta said the launch builds on its broader privacy efforts, including its earlier work introducing end-to-end encryption. The company emphasized that Incognito Chat differs from other incognito-style AI features because the conversations themselves remain inaccessible to the platform provider.
The feature is being rolled out over the coming months on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app.
Meta also revealed plans to introduce Side Chat with Meta AI in the coming months. The upcoming feature will use Private Processing technology to provide contextual assistance related to ongoing chats without disrupting the primary conversation flow.
The company said it believes private AI interactions will become an important part of how users engage with conversational AI products in the future.
