Metro Supply Chain completed its acquisition by Japan-based NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, bringing the third-party logistics company into the global NX Group network.
Metro Supply Chain will continue operating under its existing name across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Its current executive leadership will remain responsible for the business, and day-to-day decision-making will continue to take place locally.
The company’s Montréal headquarters and Canadian roots will also remain central to its operations.
Founder Chiko Nanji will remain Group Chairman and provide strategic oversight as Metro enters its next stage of development.
Metro Supply Chain said joining NX Group will give the company access to additional investment, international infrastructure, and global reach while preserving its existing customer relationships and operating culture.
Metro has grown during the past five decades from a single Montréal warehouse into a logistics provider with operations across North America and the United Kingdom.
The company employs approximately 9,000 people across more than 190 sites.
Its capabilities include contract logistics, transportation, last-mile delivery, contract packaging, automation, robotics, and business intelligence.
NX Group operates in 56 countries and regions with more than 78,000 professionals.
The group provides air, sea, rail, road transportation, contract logistics, and integrated supply chain services.
The combined organizations plan to connect Metro’s local operational capabilities with NX Group’s international network to support more resilient and scalable supply chains.
