Metycle Secures $150 Million Credit Facility From Rivonia Road Capital To Expand Recycled Metals Supply

Metycle, a Cologne, Germany-based supplier of secondary copper and aluminum, has secured a $150 million credit facility from Rivonia Road Capital, a global private capital manager specializing in asset-backed lending. The financing will support Metycle’s expansion by providing capital for larger commodity transactions, increasing its ability to source and process recycled metals, and strengthening deliveries to industrial customers and smelters worldwide.

The facility is structured to support eligible transactions across the entire trading cycle, from initial supplier payments through final settlement by industrial buyers.

This financing framework will enable Metycle to execute larger transactions, purchase greater volumes of secondary metals, and provide more consistent supplies of specified feedstock to its customers.

The agreement also establishes a repeatable institutional financing structure for physical commodity transactions, an area where complex documentation, inconsistent specifications, and fragmented suppliers can create challenges for traditional lenders.

Demand for copper and aluminum continues to expand across electrification, power infrastructure, data centers, and advanced manufacturing. Recycling and secondary metal supplies provide an additional source of these essential raw materials as the development of new mining and primary production capacity requires significant time and investment.

However, secondary metal markets remain fragmented. Differences in material quality, specifications, documentation, and traceability can make transactions difficult to verify and finance at scale.

Metycle aims to address these challenges by combining global commodity trading, physical processing, and digital verification within a vertically integrated business model.

Its first SmartSorting Hub in Maasmechelen, Belgium, uses AI-enabled sorting, spectroscopy, and proprietary data infrastructure to transform mixed metal scrap into clearly specified, smelter-ready feedstock.

The system incorporates sensor data to guide sorting decisions according to buyer specifications, helping improve the consistency and predictability of processed materials.

The company also operates TrustTrack, a digital evidence platform that connects records of material identity, quality, processing, custody, and logistics to individual material batches and transactions.

Each completed transaction and processed batch contributes additional information to Metycle’s proprietary dataset, supporting future decisions involving sourcing, processing, risk management, and sales.

The combination of physical processing, digital verification, and institutional financing is intended to make secondary copper and aluminum supplies more predictable for industrial customers.

For Rivonia Road Capital, the facility represents an investment in Metycle’s infrastructure for sourcing and supplying recycled metals.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Rivonia Road Capital provides financing solutions across the nonbank finance ecosystem, including consumer, commercial, and real estate finance.

The new facility will support Metycle as it expands its trading and processing activities while developing the infrastructure required to provide industrial customers with traceable secondary raw materials at greater scale.

KEY QUOTES:

“Secondary metals do not lack demand. They lack predictability. Our opportunity is to make secondary supply behave more like an industrial raw material: specified, traceable, and reliably delivered. This facility gives us the capacity to finance substantially more material through that system and serve customers at a much greater scale.”

Rafael Suchan, CEO and Co-Founder of Metycle
