MGA Homecare has acquired Care IV Home Health’s Private Duty Nursing division in Arkansas, expanding its operations into a seventh state and strengthening its services for children and adults with complex medical requirements.
The acquisition adds an established Arkansas nursing business with a history spanning more than 33 years. MGA intends to retain its local leadership team and existing care workforce while providing additional resources for expanding services throughout the state.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Care IV’s Private Duty Nursing division specializes in providing extended, skilled nursing care to patients who depend on advanced medical technology.
Its services include care for children and adults requiring ventilators, tracheostomy care, and complex respiratory support.
These patients frequently need prolonged nursing assistance and may otherwise require extended hospitalization or placement in another institutional healthcare setting.
Private duty nursing provides extended, one-on-one care in patients’ homes, allowing individuals with substantial medical needs to remain with their families while receiving professional nursing support.
The acquired business includes experienced registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who have developed longstanding relationships with patients and families throughout Arkansas.
MGA plans to preserve those relationships while expanding access to specialized care.
Joseph Kennon, who leads Care IV’s Private Duty Nursing division, will remain in his leadership position following the acquisition.
He will work with MGA’s existing leadership team to develop the Arkansas business, maintain continuity for patients, and evaluate additional growth opportunities.
The acquisition also establishes MGA’s first operating presence in Arkansas, extending its geographic footprint across the United States.
The company currently serves patients in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
Its broader organization includes more than 5,500 team members serving over 6,000 patients and families daily.
MGA intends to build on Care IV’s established relationships while expanding access to nursing services in rural and underserved Arkansas communities.
These communities can face challenges obtaining consistent access to skilled nursing professionals, particularly for patients requiring complex, ongoing care.
The company’s expansion strategy also includes developing relationships with health plans and other healthcare organizations.
MGA intends to work with payers to improve patient outcomes and potentially reduce avoidable hospitalizations among individuals who depend on advanced medical technology.
Another priority involves participating in legislative and policy discussions affecting private duty nursing patients, families, and caregivers.
For Care IV, the transaction allows the company to concentrate on its remaining healthcare operations.
Care IV will focus exclusively on its Medicare intermittent skilled home health business, following the divestiture of its Private Duty Nursing division.
The company selected MGA following a search for a partner capable of continuing its established nursing services while preserving its relationships with patients and caregivers.
MGA brings more than 20 years of multistate private duty nursing experience to the acquisition.
Its broader service portfolio includes skilled nursing visits, physical and behavioral therapies, attendant and certified nursing assistant care, consumer-directed care, home medical supplies, and home-based long-term care pharmacy services.
The company intends to combine these capabilities with Care IV’s existing Arkansas operations to expand its ability to support patients with complex needs.
