Michael Baker International announced a sweeping leadership transition aimed at accelerating technology-driven growth, naming Chris Peters as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Peters, who joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer in November 2025, brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across the architectural, engineering, and consulting sectors, including prior service as COO of WSP USA.
Peters succeeds Brian A. Lutes, who had led the company since 2017. In his new role, Peters will guide the firm’s strategy to address evolving client needs across public, private, and government sectors while deepening its emphasis on Technology, Differentiation, and Innovation.
Alongside the CEO transition, the company announced several additional executive appointments. Kevin Reed has been named Chief Operating Officer, Daniel A. Craig has been appointed President, and Alex Vickers joins as Chief Strategy Officer.
As COO, Reed will oversee firmwide operations across the company’s four business lines, Infrastructure, Integrated Design and Advisory, Mitigation, Environmental, Resiliency, Response and Recovery, and GovTech, with a focus on operational excellence and scalable growth. Craig, as President, will drive expansion in both established and emerging markets while strengthening client partnerships and advancing technology-led initiatives. Vickers will lead enterprise strategy, aligning long-term vision with actionable priorities and investments.
The leadership overhaul reflects the company’s broader push to evolve into a more technology-enabled engineering and consulting platform, building on its long-standing presence across infrastructure, environmental, and advisory services. With more than 6,000 employees across over 120 offices, the firm continues to expand its capabilities in areas such as intelligent transportation, engineered models, and public safety software solutions.
