Microsoft announced plans to invest $5.5 billion in Singapore between 2025 and 2029, reinforcing its long term commitment to expanding cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the region while supporting workforce development and digital transformation.

The investment will fund both infrastructure and ongoing operations, positioning Singapore as a key hub for AI innovation in Asia. The initiative aligns with rising demand for AI capabilities and reflects Microsoft’s broader strategy to scale its global cloud footprint and AI ecosystem.

As part of the announcement, Microsoft introduced new initiatives under its Microsoft Elevate program aimed at expanding access to AI tools and skills. These efforts include providing every tertiary student in Singapore with free access to Microsoft 365 Copilot for 12 months, along with productivity tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
